Ghana's President launches $40M bitumen plant, collaborating with Côte d'Ivoire, to reduce imports & enhance road construction.

On September 12, 2024, Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo launched a $40 million bitumen processing plant in Tema, a collaboration between GOIL PLC and Côte d'Ivoire's SMB. The facility, with a storage capacity of 7,500 metric tons, aims to reduce Ghana's reliance on imported bitumen and enhance road construction. It will produce polymer modified bitumen and emulsions, boosting job creation and export potential while supporting regional integration within ECOWAS.
