South Korea approves Shin Hanul No. 3 and 4 reactors construction, boosting nuclear energy's share from 30% to 36% by 2038.

South Korea's Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has approved the construction of the Shin Hanul No. 3 and 4 reactors in Uljin, each with a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts. This marks the first nuclear construction permit since 2016 and aims to increase nuclear energy's share in power generation from 30% to 36% by 2038. The reactors are set for completion in 2032 and 2033, supporting rising energy demands and a shift in policy under President Yoon Suk Yeol.
