Romania plans to create its largest urban forest in Tulcea, covering 61.2 hectares, with €5.83 million funding from the EU’s National Recovery and Resilience Facility. Environment Minister Mircea Fechet and Mayor Ștefan Ilie signed the agreement to enhance green spaces and ecological rejuvenation. The project will involve planting about 2.5 million saplings, aimed at improving air quality and reducing urban temperatures. Submissions for similar projects are due by December 31, 2024.
