The Nigerian Federal Government has warned of a potential rise in Lassa fever cases as the annual season approaches. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 7,973 suspected cases, with 982 confirmed and 168 deaths, marking a 17.1% fatality rate. While other diseases like yellow fever, diphtheria, and cholera have declined, the NCDC is enhancing preparedness measures to address the anticipated surge in Lassa fever cases.
