Ireland's Social Protection Minister, Heather Humphreys, has voiced support for a one-off quadruple child benefit payment for newborns, proposed by Green Party leader Roderic O'Gorman.
This would be a €560 payment to assist new parents.
Humphreys also plans to expand fuel allowance eligibility to those aged 66 and older.
However, the affordability of these proposals will be assessed in the upcoming Budget on October 1.
