HMRC urges women nearing State Pension age to check National Insurance records for gaps in Child Benefit claims before 2000 to ensure eligibility for State Pension.

HMRC is urging individuals, especially women nearing State Pension age, to check for potential gaps in their National Insurance records related to Child Benefit claims made before 2000. Those who did not provide their National Insurance number may not have received Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP), which could affect their State Pension entitlement. HMRC has contacted 257,000 pensioners and encourages others to use the eligibility checker on GOV.UK to claim missing HRP.
