Vancouver police officer faces IIO charges for fatal shooting on May 5 at Patricia Hotel.
The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of British Columbia has recommended charges against a Vancouver police officer involved in a fatal shooting on May 5, 2022. Officers responded to a call at the Patricia Hotel, where an interaction led to the officer firing shots that resulted in the man's death. IIO's interim chief director, Sandra Hentzen, found reasonable grounds to believe the officer may have committed offenses related to the use of force. The report has been submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service for consideration.
