2024-25 Lakers season to feature Jerry West's No. 44 jersey band, with a ceremony during opener against the Timberwolves on October 22.
The Los Angeles Lakers will honor the late Jerry West, who died in June at age 86, by featuring a No. 44 jersey band on their uniforms throughout the 2024-25 NBA season. West, a 14-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion, played for the Lakers from 1960 to 1974 and later served as a coach and executive. A ceremony will take place during the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22, and Michael Cooper's No. 21 jersey will be retired on January 13.
