Astronomers observed gas bubbles on red giant R Doradus using ALMA, enhancing knowledge of stellar behavior and evolution.
Astronomers have obtained the first detailed images of a star other than the Sun, capturing the motion of gas bubbles on the red giant star R Doradus. Using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), they observed bubbles 75 times larger than the Sun appearing and sinking back into the star's surface. This research enhances understanding of stellar behavior and evolution, including insights into heavy element distribution and star formation.
