India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways updates National Highways Fee Rules to implement GNSS for toll collection, replacing FASTag system.

India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has updated the National Highways Fee Rules to implement a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for toll collection. Private vehicles with functioning GNSS can travel up to 20 kilometers on highways without toll charges; fees apply beyond that distance. This change aims to enhance traffic flow and increase toll revenue significantly, replacing the prior FASTag system. The new rules will be rolled out on key highways.
