Baltimore County nominates Joseph Dixon, first Black fire chief, for County's Fire Chief position.
Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski has nominated Joseph Dixon, a 30-year veteran of firefighting, as the county's next fire chief, making him the first Black individual to hold this position. Dixon, who began his career in 1993 with the Howard County Fire Department, has held various leadership roles. His appointment requires approval from the County Council, and he will replace Interim Chief Scott Ebbert.
