Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has shut down four supermarkets in Accra for selling unregistered products, including pharmaceuticals and food, all labeled in Chinese.
The Chinese-owned stores—Jia Hua Agricultural Trade Company, Panda Mart, Downwind Sail, and Hauang Jia YI Limited—face fines of at least GH¢25,000 each.
The FDA will oversee the relabeling of products in English, as required by law, and urges the public to avoid unregistered items for safety reasons.
