85-year-old George F. Leach died in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 212, caused by a 16-year-old driver crossing into oncoming traffic.
George F. Leach, 85, died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 212 near Belle Fourche. A 16-year-old driving a 2019 Ford F350 crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with Leach's 2014 GMC Sierra. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts; the Ford driver suffered minor injuries. Leach was initially taken to a Rapid City hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
