On September 5, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a military-style explosive device found in a park near the Surrey/Langley border around 7:30 PM. The area was evacuated and nearby roads were closed for safety. The Vancouver Police Department's Explosive Disposal Unit neutralized the device, confirming it was inactive and posed no risk to the public. The park and roads were reopened a few hours later. An investigation into the device's origins is ongoing.
