Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich plans to file a new Chapter 11 reorganization plan, allocating $30M to clergy abuse survivors.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich plans to file a new Chapter 11 reorganization plan by Friday, aiming to emerge from bankruptcy and allocate approximately $30 million to survivors of clergy sexual abuse. This plan, supported by its insurer and local parishes, follows the abandonment of an earlier agreement by a victims' group. The diocese is facing lawsuits from over 140 alleged victims and initially filed for bankruptcy protection in July 2021.
