Indian study reveals higher TB risk among healthcare workers due to PPE inconsistency and inadequate ventilation.

A study in India has found that healthcare workers face a much higher risk of tuberculosis (TB) than the general population, with a prevalence of 2,391.6 cases per 100,000 compared to 300 cases per 100,000. Contributing factors include inadequate ventilation and inconsistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The study urges routine TB screening, better infection control, and enhanced healthcare infrastructure to protect these workers and support India’s goal of eliminating TB by 2025.
