European Space Agency targets Salsa satellite re-entry on Sunday to minimize space debris.

The European Space Agency (ESA) will conduct its first-ever "targeted" re-entry of the Salsa satellite, launched in 2000, on Sunday. The 550-kilogram satellite will largely burn up over the Pacific Ocean, aiming to minimize space debris. This re-entry is possible due to Salsa's unique orbit. The ESA plans similar re-entries for three more satellites in 2025 and 2026, seeking insights to create future satellites that fully disintegrate upon re-entry.
