Fresno police cadet Joshua Brown, 27, was arrested by the FBI on September 3 for federal weapons charges, including possession of a fully-automatic MP5 and unregistered suppressors. He was hired in September 2023 but was terminated following his arrest. Additionally, two other department employees were placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The Fresno Police Department is cooperating with the FBI and is committed to a thorough inquiry.
