A multi-vehicle accident on I-40 East near Airline Road involved an 18-wheeler that struck an ambulance and fire truck while deputies were responding to a previous crash. The 18-wheeler driver is in critical condition at Regional One Health, while the other driver sustained non-critical injuries. Westbound I-40 is temporarily closed; drivers are advised to use Highway 64 or 70 as detours. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
