Swimming Australia has dismissed coach Michael Palfrey for expressing support for South Korean swimmer Kim Woo-min over Australian athletes during the Paris Olympics. His comments were deemed "un-Australian" and a breach of his employment contract, damaging both his and Swimming Australia's reputation. Palfrey has lost his six-figure salary and his position at the USC Spartans swim club as a result. Australian swimmer Elijah Winnington won silver in the event.
