Supermac's donated €3,500 to Galway charities to avoid fines for data protection breaches.

Supermac's, a fast-food chain in Ireland, donated €3,500 to two Galway charities to avoid a fine and conviction for five breaches of data protection laws. The company pleaded guilty to sending unsolicited marketing emails to a customer who had opted out. The Data Protection Commission had previously warned Supermac's in February 2023 after earlier investigations. The Galway District Court accepted the donation instead of imposing penalties.
