San Diego Zoo Safari Park welcomes a critically endangered Sumatran tiger cub on August 23.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park celebrated the birth of a Sumatran tiger cub on August 23. The cub, born to first-time mother Jillian, enhances the genetic diversity of this critically endangered species, with only 400-600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Wildlife care specialists are monitoring their bonding period in the den, which is expected to last 10 to 12 weeks, before they venture outdoors together.
