Nigeria's government, led by Agriculture Minister Senator Abubakar Kyari, initiates subsidized rice sales to combat food insecurity and reduce prices.
Nigeria's government, under Agriculture Minister Senator Abubakar Kyari, has begun selling 30,000 metric tons of subsidized milled rice at N40,000 per 50kg bag. This initiative aims to reduce food prices and alleviate food insecurity amid challenges like COVID-19 and global conflicts. Buyers must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and, for civil servants, their IPPIS number for verification to prevent fraud. Sales will occur nationwide until supplies last.
