India has surpassed the US to become the second-largest global 5G smartphone market, following China, as reported by Counterpoint Research. In the first half of 2024, global 5G handset shipments rose by 20%. Apple led with a 25% market share, boosted by iPhone 15 and 14 sales, while Samsung held 21%. India's growth is attributed to strong budget segment sales from brands like Xiaomi and Vivo. Asia-Pacific accounted for 63% of global net additions and 58% of 5G shipments.
