A construction worker became trapped in an 8-foot trench at a hillside home in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, on Thursday morning. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded around 10:50 a.m. and found the man alert but buried up to his waist. Rescuers stabilized the trench walls and initiated a high-risk extraction effort. The operation lasted nearly six hours, with the worker taken to the hospital in serious condition, while two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion during the rescue.
