U.S. DOJ charges two Russian state media employees with laundering funds for pro-Russian content aimed at influencing US elections.

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged two Russian nationals, Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva, employees of state media outlet RT, with conspiracy to launder money and violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act. They allegedly funneled nearly $10 million to a Tennessee-based media company, Tenet Media, to produce pro-Russian content aimed at influencing U.S. elections and amplifying domestic divisions. The DOJ has also seized 32 websites linked to this operation.
