Roku launches free Backdrops feature, turning TVs into digital art displays when not in use.

Roku is launching a feature called Backdrops that turns TVs into digital art displays when not in use. Users can choose from thousands of artworks, including classics and landscapes, and learn about each piece. Backdrops allows customization and supports personal photo uploads via Google Photos. Initially available on Roku-branded and third-party TVs, it will expand to streaming players in the fall. Unlike similar products, Backdrops is free of subscription fees.
