RCMP Commissioner in Nova Scotia apologizes for historic street check practice disproportionately affecting young Black men.

Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley of the RCMP in Nova Scotia will apologize to the Black community for the historic use of street checks, a practice now banned that disproportionately affected young Black men. A 2019 study revealed that Black citizens were five times more likely to be street-checked, negatively impacting African Nova Scotian communities. This follows a 2019 apology from Halifax's police chief addressing similar issues. The event will be livestreamed to various locations.
