British Columbia launches free standardized designs for multi-unit housing to reduce costs and expedite construction.
British Columbia has launched free standardized designs for small-scale, multi-unit housing, known as "building blocks," to reduce construction costs and expedite the building process. These customizable designs can accommodate up to three storeys and include options for duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhouses, and adaptable cottages. Complying with the 2024 B.C. Building Code, the initiative aims to facilitate faster home construction in local communities, as stated by Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon.
