Unionized HandyDART workers in Metro Vancouver strike, reject final contract offer; service continues for medical patients, negotiations set for Sept 12.

Unionized HandyDART workers in Metro Vancouver have begun a strike after rejecting a final contract offer from Transdev Canada, citing staffing shortages and inadequate compensation compared to other transit employees. While most trips are canceled, the service remains available for individuals needing medical appointments for cancer, renal, or multiple sclerosis treatments. The union is open to further negotiations, but Transdev has set a meeting for September 12. A rally is planned today in Vancouver.
