75 million-year-old sauropod dinosaur species "Qunkasaura pintiquiniestra" discovered in Cuenca, Spain.
A new sauropod dinosaur species, "Qunkasaura pintiquiniestra," has been identified in Cuenca, Spain, dating back 75 million years. Discovered by Portuguese paleontologist Pedro Mocho during the Madrid-Levante railway construction, this species is among the most complete sauropod fossils in Europe. It reflects the later arrival of sauropods on the Iberian Peninsula and contributes to understanding the region's diverse prehistoric ecosystems. Part of its skeleton is displayed at a local museum.
