2021 Jan-July: Japan's rice exports reach record highs, up 29.1% in value and 23% in volume.

Japan's rice exports hit record highs from January to July 2021, rising 29.1% in value to 6.46 billion yen (about 44.4 million USD) and 23% in volume to 24,469 tons. However, overall exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products declined by 2% to 815.6 billion yen during this same period. Despite a domestic rice shortage, these exports represent a small fraction of Japan's annual demand of approximately 7 million tons.
