Chinese researchers confirm possibility of producing fibre materials from Martian soil for Martian base construction.

Chinese researchers have confirmed the possibility of continuously producing fiber materials from Martian soil, which could aid in constructing future Mars bases. A team from the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry simulated Martian soil using Earth-based basalt and successfully created continuous fibers through melt-drawing experiments. Their findings indicate that these fibers may be used for fiber-reinforced composite materials, crucial for in-situ resource utilization on Mars.
