Balochistan designates Churna Island as Pakistan's second Marine Protected Area.

The Balochistan government has designated Churna Island as Pakistan's second Marine Protected Area (MPA), following Astola Island. This initiative aims to safeguard the island's fragile marine ecosystem, known for its rich biodiversity, including coral habitats and various species. Supported by WWF-Pakistan, the declaration contributes to Pakistan's goal of protecting 30% of its ocean areas by 2030, amidst concerns over recreational and industrial threats to the environment.
