Ricky Perkins, 32, has been sentenced to 4 years and 12 months in prison for causing the death of 49-year-old Byron Jeanes through dangerous driving. In January 2021, Perkins crashed his BMW into Jeanes at 89 mph on the A4063 Aberkenfig bypass during heavy rain, nearly double the speed limit. Perkins pleaded guilty in June, and despite poor weather conditions, the court did not consider this a mitigating factor.
