University of Otago study finds screen use in bed disrupts adolescent sleep.

A study by the University of Otago reveals that screen use in bed significantly disrupts sleep among adolescents, while screen time before bed has minimal impact. Researchers observed 85 participants, ages 11 to 14, using body cameras and sleep monitors. Findings show that using screens in bed delayed sleep onset by approximately 30 minutes and reduced overall sleep duration. The study suggests keeping devices out of bedrooms to promote healthier sleep habits.
