Scotland to join UK-wide study on puberty-blockers, shifting gender services to pediatric settings and investing £4.4M.
Scotland will participate in a UK-wide study on puberty-suppressing hormones for treating gender dysphoria, following a ban on new prescriptions in April. This decision comes after the Cass Review revealed weak evidence supporting such treatments. Gender services for children will shift from the Sandyford clinic to pediatric settings, with an investment of over £4.4 million for improved gender identity healthcare. Access to these services will require a clinician's referral.
