Salina church group stranded on I-70 due to blown tires, assisted by KS Highway Patrol and a tire-change volunteer; emphasizes need for pre-trip vehicle checks.
A Salina church group, returning from Kentucky, became stranded on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County when both front tires of their bus blew out. Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Mullins assisted, but no tow trucks were available. He contacted Don's Tire in Abilene, where an employee volunteered to change the tires despite it being Labor Day. After six hours of traffic control, the group safely continued their journey home. The incident highlights the importance of vehicle checks before trips.
