Pope Francis has accepted Bishop Michael Cote's resignation from the Diocese of Norwich, effective upon his 75th birthday, as per Church law. Cote, who served for 21 years, expressed gratitude and support for his successor. The diocese is currently addressing multiple sexual abuse lawsuits and had previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne of Hartford will serve as the apostolic administrator during the transition.
