Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong cautioned that Australian businesses may miss opportunities in Southeast Asia, projected to be the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2040. She highlighted a decline in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the region, which is currently lower than in 2014, with no Southeast Asian countries among Australia's top 20 investment destinations. The Australian government has allocated A$95 million in 2023 to strengthen economic ties with these nations.
