UK government ends one-word Ofsted school grades, introduces four-category assessment by 2025.

The UK government has announced the immediate end of one-word Ofsted grades for schools, replacing them with a four-category assessment focused on quality of education, behavior, personal development, and leadership. This change responds to concerns following the suicide of headteacher Ruth Perry, linked to a negative Ofsted report. A comprehensive School Report Card system will be implemented by September 2025, alongside regional improvement teams for struggling schools.
