On Labor Day weekend, three people were rescued from an overturned boat in the Connecticut River. Good Samaritans first assisted the victims before the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and marine units arrived. The individuals were evaluated medically but declined further treatment. The Chester Hose Company helped secure the overturned vessel, and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is investigating the incident.
