A significant fire broke out late Saturday night at a vacant home undergoing renovations on St. Elmo Avenue in Chattanooga. Firefighters from the Chattanooga Fire Department responded around 11:15 PM, initially battling the blaze from inside before shifting to a defensive approach due to unsafe conditions. The fire, which originated in the basement, was contained after over five hours of effort. No injuries occurred, and the cause is under investigation.
