Hasani Kamau Widemond, a 46-year-old man from Vinings, drowned in Lake Lanier on August 31 while swimming to his boat from Bethel Park. Authorities were alerted around 2 p.m., and first responders from Forsyth and Hall counties conducted a search. Widemond's body was located at a depth of about 25 feet using sonar and was retrieved with the help of divers and a remote-operated vessel. This incident marks the second drowning at the lake this year.
