On September 1, South Africa's Police Service will hold its annual Commemoration Day at the Union Buildings to honor 39 officers who died in the line of duty from April 2023 to March 2024. Families and colleagues will gather to remember their sacrifices, with Deputy President Paul Mashatile delivering the keynote address. The names of the fallen will be inscribed on the SAPS memorial wall. Notably, 31 officers were killed in the first quarter of 2023, a significant increase from the previous year.
