Six young adults in Salmon Arm, Canada, hosted a pit party with a large bonfire on August 16, violating a province-wide fire ban. Fire and police departments intervened to extinguish the fire, citing safety risks. One individual accepted responsibility and received a $1,150 fine under the B.C. Wildfire Act, with his friends agreeing to help pay. Although the Category 1 campfire ban was lifted on August 28, Category 2 and 3 fires remain prohibited.
