The road safety campaign group PARC has raised alarms over a 14% decline in fixed charge notices for traffic offenses in Ireland amid rising road fatalities. Department of Justice data revealed a drop of nearly 48,000 fines in 2021 compared to 2020, with significant decreases in 17 of 22 Garda divisions. The total of 283,516 fines issued was the lowest in a decade. Minister for Justice Helen McEntee emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility.
