Federal Maritime Minister Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh announced plans to route 50% of public-sector imports through Gwadar Port, aiming to enhance its functionality and boost local employment. He highlighted the upcoming visit of the International Maritime Organization's secretary general as pivotal for the sector. Sheikh also noted an expected $2 billion investment from Maersk and emphasized that existing ports aren’t fully utilized, negating the need for new ones.
