Carlisle United has dismissed manager Paul Simpson following a disappointing start to the 2024/25 season, with three losses in four League Two matches. His exit followed a 2-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers. Simpson, who managed the team for over two years, previously led them to promotion. Assistant coaches Gavin Skelton and Billy Barr also left. The club has appointed Mark Birch, Steven Rudd, and Jamie Devitt as interim managers while searching for a new head coach.
