Bengaluru court sentences Sariful Islam to 6 years for trafficking 41 fake INR 2000 notes from Bangladesh border.

A Bengaluru court has sentenced Sariful Islam from West Bengal to six years in prison and fined him ₹5,000 for his role in a 2018 fake currency case. He conspired with six others to traffic 41 counterfeit Indian notes, valued at ₹82,000, from the Bangladesh border to India. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) noted that the scheme aimed to undermine India’s economic stability and continues to investigate two Bangladeshi nationals linked to the case.
